A BURGLARY dealt a bitter blow to the seasonal festivities at The George pub in Alton on Monday, with intruders causing hundreds of pounds of damage and stealing a treasured laptop.

Police are seeking information to the break in, which is thought to have taken place sometime between 6.30pm and 9.42pm.

Landlady Susannah Stredder reported on social media that “selfish” intruders had broken into The George, smashing windows before breaking into the till and then forcing their way into the first-floor flat and stealing her husband Jason’s laptop.

Hampshire Police were alerted to the burglary at the Butts Road pub by a member of the public.

And confirming that there was CCTV footage of the intruders, defiant Mrs Stredder warned: “We will catch you.”

Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting 44170001918.

n The George is currently acting as a drop-off point for the ‘Don’t Hate, Donate’ campaign, collecting clothes, cooking utensils, sanitary products, medical supplies, blankets, sleeping bags, tents and even wheelchairs and crutches for the injured and disabled victims of war-torn Aleppo.

People have until January 8 to donate goods which will then be bagged up and taken to Portsmouth to be loaded into a container and sent out to Syria.
