WHITEHILL Town Council will vote for a new chairman and leader next week.

The role of chairman, who is also town mayor, is primarily a civic position, with duties such as representing the council at community events and chairing full town council meetings.

Colin Leach will come to the end of his term as mayor on Monday, May 21, when his successor, and their deputy, will be sworn in.

The position of leader, currently Mark Davison is a political role, typically held by the dominant party.
