DISAPPOINTMENT has been raised over the non-attendance of the town’s Hampshire county councillor and East Hampshire district councillors at Whitehill Town Council meetings.

Town council leader Councillor Andy Tree raised concerns at Wednesday’s executive committee meeting after no reports were received from either council.

Cllr Tree told the Herald: “I hope Cllr Adam Carew and the district councillors will respect the committee governance structure and attend executive committee meetings where appropriate, so we can work together to serve residents.”

He did, however, thank Cllr Sally Pond for the meetings she has attended.

Cllr Trevor Maroney said: “District councillors give only briefings and/or written reports to full council, and it would be undemocratic if we present additional, separate reports to the few select town councillors who attend executive meetings.

“I, and my colleagues, attend other committee meetings where items on the agenda may affect my constituents.”

The Herald approached Cllr Carew for a comment.
