A £12,000 dredging of Bordon’s Hollybrook Pond must be done with care, councillor Adam Carew told the town council’s amenities committee on July 4.

It is hoped the work will stop weed, clogging up the pond, from growing back.

Mr Carew said: “We have to remember the wildlife there. You can’t do this work in the spring because it will be the mating season and then in the summer comes the hatching so the best time, when we have a window, will be in autumn.”

Members agreed the work should go ahead and Deadwater ranger Jamie Cummins will supervise it.
