SCOTTISH and Southern Energy Power Distribution has confirmed that people who found themselves without power over Christmas will be offered compensation.

Thousands of homes were left without power over the festive period, and the firm is extending its compensation scheme - offering £75 to each customer whose electricity went off at all on Christmas Day.

Although most Whitehill and Bordon residents woke up to a normal service, people in Headley, Selborne and Newton Valence, along with 3,000 additional Southern Electric customers, woke on Christmas morning without electricity.

Some homes in East Hampshire were without power for up to five days after the storm which, in the early hours of Christmas Eve, knocked out 130,000 customers.
