The Princess Royal has visited Citizens Advice Hart to meet staff and volunteers and learn more about the charity's work supporting thousands of people across the district.

Princess Anne visited the charity's offices in Fleet on Wednesday, June 8 in her role as patron of the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux.

She was welcomed by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Colonel (Retd) Charles Ackroyd, Citizens Advice Hart chief executive Samantha Mabbott, vice-chair of trustees Gareth Williams and Steve Hughes, executive director (client and member services) at National Citizens Advice.

More than 35 staff, volunteers and guests attended the visit, including trustees' chair Luke Burton and Hart District Council chairman Cllr Stuart Bailey.

During the visit, Princess Anne toured the offices and met teams providing services including financial resilience, money management, home and wellbeing support, early prevention and community outreach.

Staff spoke about the increasing demand for help with issues including debt, housing, finances and access to services.

A commemorative plaque was unveiled by The Princess Royal to mark the visit and recognise Citizens Advice Hart's work since it was established in 1969.

The charity helped more than 4,000 people during the last financial year.

Ms Mabbott said: "The whole team was absolutely delighted to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to Citizens Advice Hart. It means so much to us to have our patron visit in person and take the time to learn about the work we do every day to support people across Hart District.”

Mr Barton added: "Our staff and volunteers work tirelessly to make a real difference to people's lives, often supporting them through some of the most challenging times they may face.

"To have that work recognised by a visit from Her Royal Highness was a tremendous honour for the whole organisation."
