RADICAL proposals have been put forward, by the Boundary Comm-ission for England, which could see East Hampshire fragmented.

The alterations (pictured) could see Whitehill and Bordon occupying the nor-thern section of a revised version of East Hampshire, with Alton, to the west, severed from the constiuency.

Bordering towns to the west would become part of a revamped North East Ham-pshire and Alton constituency, with Fleet and Yateley.

The proposals form part of a national 2013 Boundary Review to cut the number of constituencies in England from 533 to 502 and balance the numbers of voters in each MP's area, with consituencies (apart from two) having an electorate of at least 72,810 and no larger than 80,473 - East Hamp-shire's would be 75,559.

The last boundary review saw Bordon removed from North East Hampshire to join Alton and Petersfield in East Hampshire.

But East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds said: "Alton, Bordon and Petersfield and the villages that surround them go naturally together, making up the bulk of the EHDC area."

The consultation continues until December 5.
