Men aged between 40 and 90 are invited to attend Old Thorns Golf Club, Liphook for a prostate cancer testing and awareness event by Cancer Testing South between 4 and 8pm on Wednesday, September 6.

It will be a simple blood test but all men need to be registered and booked online here.

In the UK a man dies every 45 minutes from prostate disease. Research shows that early detection is more than 90 per cent effective in avoiding death - late detection is 90 per cent fatal.

Cancer Testing South seeks to compliment the free national GP scheme which, for many reasons, frequently fails to test men.

The charity expects to have tested in excess of 3000 men by the end of the year and hopes to extend its events and clinics further in the coming years.

It is hoped that on this occasion between 100 and 200 men will accept the opportunity to monitor their prostate health going forward. The public, club members and hotel employees are invited as well as visiting golf club members whose clubs will be informed by the hosts.
