A MINISTRY of Defence site in Bordon has been bought to provide housing and jobs, as part of a £3m investment in the town.

The Homes and Communities Agency has bought the Quebec Barracks site, where 100 homes will be built.

And according to East Hampshire District Council, employment space will be created for up to 100 new jobs.

This investment enables work to start to transform the barracks into a "high-quality sustainable neighbourhood" as part of the eco-town project.

The overall plan for the regeneration of the town will see, according to the eco-town masterplan, 4,000 new environmentally sustainable homes and an estimated 5,500 jobs created.
