WANT a house? Well some new ones are about to go on sale in Bordon and, as they are expected to come in at a reasonable price, they may well appeal to first-time buyers.

Radian said the “wait is almost over” for eager house-hunters looking for a new home on the site of the former Quebec Barracks.

The collection of two, three and four-bedroom homes are due to launch off-plan before Christmas with the first residents expected to move in early next year.

The development of 100 new homes, Quebec Park, provided by Radian, is anticipated to draw “significant interest” from those local to Bordon and nearby, as well as people from further afield such as Farnham and Guildford, where property prices are much higher and therefore “less attractive for first-time buyers”.

The prices of the new homes at Quebec Park are due to be released at the launch in December, but generally property in Whitehill and Bordon is marginally cheaper than other East Hampshire towns.

Quebec Park is the first significant batch of the 2,400 homes being constructed as part of Whitehill and Bordon’s regeneration.

To follow, is a new school, 500 homes at Louisburg Barracks and a new town centre at Prince Philip Barracks.

Radian said the significant regeneration is also expected to “attract investors keen to secure property” before the “potential house-price rise as a result of the new facilities and amenities the regeneration will bring to the area”.

The development features a range of homes, including coach-houses, terraces, townhouses and detached homes. All the houses are built to “high specifications” and include the latest energy-saving features built in, including solar panels.

Zoe Bonnington, assistant director of new business, sales and marketing at Radian, said: “We’ve already had over 450 people register their interest in the new homes so we expect them to sell quickly. We anticipate they will appeal to first-time buyers who want to settle down in a home they can truly call their own, as well as downsizers and families.

“The community feel at Bordon is unique which is a real bonus for potential residents and there is so much going on in the town and nearby villages, which will be a draw for interested buyers.

“For those needing a little extra help, Help to Buy, which has been so popular with first-time buyers, will also be available.”

A new cafe will be built onsite at the development, run by Radian’s social-enterprise unit RKdia as part of the community hub building. A construction-apprentice scheme will also be launched for people keen to start a career in the industry.

A Radian spokesman said there was “no problem” with new windows at Quebec Park after residents reported seeing frames put in and then removed.
