Residents braved the wet weather last weekend to celebrate the fifth anniversary of The Shed in Whitehill & Bordon on Saturday.

The landmark town centre venue hosted a family-friendly birthday party featuring live music, food, classic vehicles and activities for children, marking five years since it opened as part of the town's regeneration project.

Visitors packed into the venue to support local businesses and join the celebrations.

Cllr Andy Tree, leader of Whitehill Town Council, said: "Despite the rain, The Shed was hugely packed out and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

"Local businesses are the beating heart of our community and in this case it was a pleasure to support those who are working so hard when the hospitality industry has been tough."

The Shed opened in June 2021 and has become a focal point of the regeneration of Whitehill & Bordon, attracting more than a million visitors since opening.

As well as serving as a community hub, the venue is home to around 15 businesses operating from units on the ground floor.

Separate from his role as a councillor, Cllr Tree said he had invested his own money in 350 Burger, now known as Loaded Burger.

He said: "I am proud it employs a number of young people when youth unemployment remains a concern nationally."

Cllr Tree added that he is a silent partner in Loaded Burger, Stuff'd and the operation of Jude's Ice Cream at The Shed.

Looking ahead, he said he hoped The Shed’s success would lead the way for wider regeneration of the town centre.

"Moving forward I am pleased to see Sainsbury's progressing and I want to see momentum from developers in terms of delivering more within the promised new town centre area," he said.
