A Meon Valley estate will hold an annual celebration of rural life and country sports this weekend.
This Sunday sees the return of Hampshire Countryside Day with the annual event taking place on the Bereleigh Estate near East Meon from 9.30am to 5pm.
The event is a must for families, countryside aficionados and four-legged friends with expert demonstrations, live entertainment and countless stalls to peruse.
And it’s also for a good cause with proceeds being split between the Countryside Alliance and the Hampshire & IoW Air Ambulance.
Most of the action will centre on the main arena with a full schedule of demonstrations and competitions from 10.15am onwards.
Highlights will include Gamegoer Gun Dog routines and scurry competitions, falconry demonstrations and a range of ‘have a go experiences’ where visitors can try their hand at clay pigeon shooting and archery. There’s also lots for fishing enthusiasts while a visit to the Meon Valley Airgun Club stand is got to be worth a shot.
Dogs are welcome with a range of canine competitions on offer, while there should be plenty to entice shoppers with more than 100 trade stands offering everything from crafts and clothing to countryside equipment.
There will be no excuse for going hungry with options including Nordic street food, flatbreads and a hog roast. There will also be a bar serving up locally-produced Bowman’s Ales, Meon cider, lager and soft drinks.
Gates open at 9.30am but visitors have been encouraged to give themselves extra time to arrive because of the closure of the A272 east of West Meon Hut.
Advance tickets are priced £13.75 for adults with no entry charge for children aged under 16, while tickets purchased on the day are £16.
