A RETIRED Bordon soldier has given a well-known town barber a fitting memorial.

Major Bill Jordan was surprised when he discovered that his friend, former Bordon Garrison barber John Joseph Finlay, had such an anonymous grave in Whitehill Cemetery.

Unbeknownst to Mr Jordan, Mr Finlay died in 2010. And discovering that he had been buried in Whitehill Cemetery, in a virtually unmarked "pauper's grave", Mr Jordan was motivated to erect a headstone in honour of his friend.
