HEADLEY village fete returned on Saturday with a host of traditional stalls, games and rural fun.

The popular event saw local groups celebrating the centenary of the end of the First World War (1914-1918), women’s suffrage success and 100 years of the Royal Air Force.

Local singers and bands entertained with live music throughout the afternoon, while guests enjoyed refreshments in the beer tent.

There was also a collection of vintage vehicles on display, a bouncy castle, a dog show, plenty of stalls, sideshows and more. Stall holder Jo Smith said of the village fete: “It went pretty well this year.

“The weather helped of course. I ran my usual bookstall of local history books and was happy with the custom.” He added: “I’m told, by the organisers, that most stallholders seemed happy with their day.”
