A COUPLE from Whitehill had items of jewellery stolen from them when their home in Plantation Way was broken into while they were away on holiday.

Between September 30 and October 1, the burglar, or burglars, got into their home by smashing a window pane before unlocking a door.

A signet ring, an engagement ring and an eternity ring (pictured) were among the items of jewellery taken.

This was the second break-in in the area in recent weeks and Hampshire Police are advising residents to make sure their properties are secure and to remember to remove keys from doors and windows, where householders can easily find them but so can thieves.

As the evenings get darker, when many people are not not home from work in daylight hours, police advise that people can keep their homes more secure by using timer-light switches.
