Ruby & Monty’s Kitchen and Bar in Petersfield town centre has announced its closure.

The restaurant, which offered a range of cuisines, blamed “rising operational costs” as the reason for its decision.

“It is with great regret that we announce the permanent closure of Ruby & Monty’s,” a statement from the management said.

“This decision has been driven by a combination of rising operational costs, including recent increases to national insurance, the minimum wage, and the continued escalation of food prices.

“Despite our best efforts to adjust, these pressures have made it unsustainable for us to continue trading.”

The statement also said the current cost-of-living crisis “has naturally affected spending within the hospitality sector”.

“Unfortunately, the current economic climate has left us with no viable alternative but to close,” the management said.

They thanked customers for “their loyalty and support over the past four years”.

“Serving the Petersfield community has been a privilege, and we are deeply appreciative of everyone who chose to spend their time with us,” the management added.

Ruby & Monty’s opened in the High Street in August 2021.

At its launch, owner Tim Kelly from London told the Post he wanted to invest in Petersfield as it was “a super town, with a busy, thriving feel to it”.
