THEY say art is essential to individual and collective well-being – and we could all certainly do with some of that now.
So the Farnham Art Society project Art on the Railings is coming back for its third year.
From June 13, the railings alongside the Wey outside the Maltings will be hung with paintings by its members every Saturday, from 10am to 5pm.
Society member Stewart Dakers said: “In tune with government regulations, the work will be for display only, but we feel it will be a small but significant step in the healing process for our community as it recovers and rebuilds its life.
“It was always the intention to reserve a significant space for community art, work undertaken by the groups and individuals which have each year been on display in the annual Unseen Artists exhibition.
“The novel times in which we live have prompted a change to this for June and July.
“Anyone who has found the creation of art to have kept themselves sane, grounded and positive during the lockdown is welcome to take part.
“Obviously space is limited so it will be necessary for anyone wishing to take part to book and receive details of how it all works by emailing [email protected]
“We feel this could be one of hopefully many initiatives which celebrate revival, hope, resilience of Farnham and its people during this difficult time.”
