AFTER deciding it wanted to revamp its old library, Bordon Infant School called in a design company to create a warm, welcoming place for children to read.

Parents and siblings of pupils are also being invited to choose books from the library, as well as the pupils themselves.

The library was opened, last Tuesday, by headteacher Matthew Greenhalgh and four "star pupils" from years one and two - Molly, Emily, Joseph and Jessica.

After parents and visitors were given a tour of the reading areas that have been created, everyone was invited to enjoy tea and cakes with the teachers.

School spokeswoman Anne-Maria Kennedy said: "We wanted to make our library more interesting to encourage more children to read and so we got a company in to redesign it.

"We now have fiction and non-fiction areas; reading areas where children can relax and enjoy their books, and a storytelling area which has a chair for the reader and lots of cushions for the youngsters to sit on. We also want families, including brothers and sisters of pupils, to come and enjoy our library and they can choose books from 8.30am to 8.45am in the morning and from 3.15pm to 3.45pm in the afternoon."
