Leisure centres in Waverley are to undergo extensive improvements to gym facilities totalling £1 million.

Everyone Active, which now manages Haslemere, Farnham and Godalming leisure centres on behalf of Waverley Borough Council, says the investment is aimed at delivering a “profoundly enhanced” experience for its members.

The improvements will include brand-new fitness equipment alongside new contemporary décor, lighting and flooring to create a more “inspiring” environment.

To cater for increased demand for strength training, state-of-the-art equipment will be introduced including plate-loaded resistance kit and cable stations. Alongside this, a revamped cardiovascular section will offer new equipment such as stair climbers, rowers, ‘Watt Bikes’ and a ‘Skill Mill’.

Sixty per cent of the finished gym areas will be dedicated to strength training, and 30 per cent to cardio equipment, to meet local demand.

All-new relaxation zones will also be introduced at the three sites, complete with amenities like massage guns, to provide members with a space for post-workout relaxation and recovery.

The improvements will be undertaken in stages throughout November this year, with each one set to open to the public by December.

Godalming Leisure Centre will undergo its refurbishment first, temporarily closing from Wednesday, November 1, with the gym welcoming the public back on Friday, November 10.

Haslemere Leisure Centre will close on Tuesday, November 7 and reopen its revitalised gym on Saturday, November 18.

Farnham Leisure Centre will follow, temporarily closing from Monday, November 20. The grand reopening of the rejuvenated gym will take place on Friday, December 1.

At all three sites, the pools and group fitness studios will remain unaffected, and alternative access to nearby Everyone Active centres will be arranged for members during the closures.

Everyone Active will also schedule extra group exercise classes at all sites during the renovation period.

David Love, area contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “We’re thrilled to announce this significant investment in three of our Waverley sites, which we hope will pay dividends for years to come.

“These transformative upgrades extend beyond just improving our gyms; they are about crafting inspirational spaces where our community can achieve their goals.”
