POLICE are looking for information following a burglary in Headley Down in which thieves stole expensive silverware.

Between 6pm and 8.30pm last Thursday, an elderly woman was burgled.

The offenders, or offender, entered the property in Churt Road by smashing a small window at the back of the building and gaining access to the kitchen.

Once inside, they searched the property and took a number of items of silverware.

The items included a solid silver inkwell and a silver teapot with a distinct inscription from the congregation of St Pauls.

Pc Ben Vanes, said: "The area where the burglary took place is quite remote and the offenders may have been in the area previously.

"Do you live in the area? Did you see anyone acting suspiciously?

"I would urge anyone who has any information to come forward and speak to us.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been offered the stolen items for sale.

"The items were of sentimental value to the owner and we are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help us reunite the victim with her property."
