A FIRST World War exhibition is planned at Whitehill Village Hall on Armed Forces Day Saturday, June 30.
The exhibition is being organised by the Woolmer Forest Heritage Society, which has organised the current Bordon library exhibition, based on the perambulation of the parish boundary and the blessing of the bounds in April.
The exhibition, opened by Whitehill mayor Colin Leach on May 4, is in the society’s display case (pictured) at Bordon Library.
Heritage Society chairman Dr Chris Wain said: “Our parish of Whitehill is comparatively young and a large portion of the boundary is within the military firing ranges, so we visited just four points which were easily accessible.
“We hoped this would give the town councillors an overview of the parish and the areas they represent.”
Mr Leach thanked the society for arranging the perambulation, adding: “I was pleased to open the new exhibition at Bordon Library. It is a fitting tribute to the blessing of the bounds, and I advise everyone to view the exhibits. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Woolmer Forest Heritage Society for preserving the rich heritage of Whitehill and Bordon.”
The society will also be involved in a blessing the bower ceremony at the Walldown Earthworks on Wednesday, June 13, at 1.30pm.
Its First World War exhibition will be at Whitehill Village Hall, in Sutton Field, on June 30, from 11am-4pm.
