SUPPORT of a lowered speed limit on Budds Lane has been given by Whitehill Town Council.

Councillors at Monday night’s (February 17) executive committee meeting unanimously agreed that Budds Lane should have traffic calming measures and a speed limit reduced from 30mph to 20mph because of the location of Oakmoor School.

It comes after transport and safety concerns were raised by Oakmoor School’s headteacher Paul Hemmings surrounding travel to the school, as previously reported in the Bordon Herald.

In a letter to Mr Hemmings, Cllr Andy Tree, leader of the town council, wrote: “Whilst I appreciate that discussions have continued and moved on, I felt it still important to keep the agenda item to agree a town council corporate view that would hopefully be helpful as a reference.”

He continued: “As you know, Hampshire County Council (HCC) is the Highways Authority. Whilst we have no control over this area, we hope that HCC will take our views seriously as the grassroots elected body representing Whitehill and Bordon residents.”
