FORMER Ministry of Defence facilities in Whitehill and Bordon were put to good use by students from Farnham’s University for the Creative Arts who filmed a music video at the Woolmer Forest Studios.

The music video was for rock band Shaken Tailor’s song Add A Short, Clear Name and was filmed at converted facilities at Prince Philip Barracks. The project forms part of the students’ coursework for their degree in digital film and screen arts. Short-term property specialist and manager of Woolmer Forest Studios, SPACE-2, was keen to assist the students.

Mark Hughes-Webb, SPACE-2’s managing director, said: “The studio space is accessible for all sorts of projects, from music videos to community media projects, and we want local residents, businesses and groups to use it.

“We were particularly pleased to hear that the students wanted to film their music video here and we were delighted to be able to assist them. We look forward to welcoming more projects like this.”

Jesse Hunnisett, of Shaken Tailor, said: “SPACE-2 provided an epic space that meets media-production expectations, yet is easily accessible for students not yet heavily involved within the industry. It was well managed and accommodated all our needs.”

Music video director Tom Paynter added: “Our degree course gives us the freedom to be creative in any form and the studios were spot on for our music video. Not only were we able to work around a small student budget but we also got treated like professionals from the initial pre-production stage to packing up the equipment. The video has come out so well that we are already filming another music video for Shaken Tailor, which will be completed just before the summer.”
