THIS this year’s Sweet Soul Sunday raised more than £1,000, with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and the MS Society each receiving £525.
Organiser Charlie Brake thanked the Railway Arms in Alton, the venue, Triple FFF Brewery and Mr Whiteheads Cider, which have supported the event since it started five years ago.
Groovers feasted on an American barbecue and liquid refreshments, as they enjoyed 10 hours of funk and soul tunes mixed by DJ Pops, Jim Trower and DJ Kieran Flatt.
“It was a fantastic day,” said Mr Brake. “As in previous years, our sponsors were incredibly generous and we really appreciate the support they give us each year. I would also like to thank all of those who came out to make the event another resounding success.”
Sweet Soul Sunday raises money for local and national charities and is held over the August bank holiday weekend.
Chosen charities are nominated by the event’s supporters, with one local and one national charity picked out of a hat.
