COMMUNITY First is inviting charity organisations and other non-profit-making groups to a free event about the town’s regeneration.

The event takes place from 7pm to 9pm on Tuesday at the Forest Community Centre.

Steve Pearce, project director at East Hampshire District Council, will give a presentation about the latest plans for the town, focussing on the potential impact of the growth on charities and community groups.

Organisations will hear about opportunities for new premises, discuss future sports and leisure provision and give developers and other stakeholders an idea of what their organisation can offer the town as it expands.

Organiser Claire Coxwell, community development worker from Community First, said: “Whitehill and Bordon has a vibrant voluntary sector, with groups including sports clubs, uniformed organisations, a heritage society, conservation groups, women’s organisations, leisure activity clubs and caring services such as lunch clubs, befriending and dementia support.

“The development will bring new houses, a new school, new workplaces and green spaces.

“We need to make sure we strengthen the capacity for our community organisations to develop and plan for a rise in population.”
