A TAXI share scheme launched to replace the number 28 Bordon bus service is only set to continue until November, it has been revealed.

It comes after Bruce Collinson, project manager at Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company, said during a meeting on Thursday the scheme was “short term” and “will come to an end”.

Hampshire county councillor Rob Humby, deputy leader and executive member for economy, transport and environment, confirmed it has “funding until November”.

He said: “We introduced the taxi share to ensure the service, which had few passengers at this stage, kept going for as long as possible using the original grant funding. This could go on for longer depending on how well the service is used.”

But, “alternative funding is being sought” to “support the establishment of a commercially viable bus service”.

Meanwhile, the regeneration company is looking to run a “demand responsive system”, which was compared to Uber.
