BLACKMOOR Estate’s famous Apple Tasting Day was back last Sunday with organisers and fruit fans soldiering on despite the weather.
The event gives people the chance to try a wide variety of apples, from traditional favourites to newer, more exotic varieties.
“After a run of many years of glorious weather, the Blackmoor Apple Tasting Day suffered some pretty atrocious downpours on Sunday,” said managing director of the estate William Wolmer.
“However that was not enough to put off the loyal visitors who still turned up in large numbers, filling the car park.
“The charities present successfully raised funds and awareness on the day and hopefully the dismal weather did not impact too much on takings.
“This year, the favourite apples of those tasted were Spartan, Opal and Topaz and the gin and beer stalls were welcome additions to the Farmers’ Market.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors back to a hopefully sunnier Apple Tasting Day on Sunday, October 13, 2019, and look out for our cherry days in July."
