THE first Whitehill and Bordon Festival welcomed visitors on Armed Forces Day on Saturday for what is set to be an annual fixture in the town calendar.
Organised by the Whitehill and Bordon Town Partnership, the event was launched this year to replicate the success of last year’s Farewell to the Garrison Festival, also held on Armed Forces Day.
Last Saturday’s event also incorporated the Hampshire 999 Emergency Services Show, with plenty of emergency vehicles and displays on the day.
Town partnership chairman Curtis Bone said the festival had gone well despite poor weather before and during the event.
“Numbers could have been higher but again the weather played its part in this,” he added.
“We have had a good response from stallholders and 999 displays with a number already asking to attend next year.
“The stunt show was a success and kept the crowds entertained twice during the day.
“The formal opening and the Armed Forces flag raising at the beginning kept our link with the Army which is important for the town. We are planning to hold the event again next year on June 24. It will, however, be at a new location which will be confirmed shortly.
“We are taking enquiries for next year and can be emailed at [email protected] or you can speak to us at our next event which is our Activity Day on August 13.”
The activity day will be held at the Forest Community Centre, with activities provided free by clubs and organisations from around the area.
