Tilbourne Players will be performing The Heiress at the Tilford Institute on March 30 and 31, and April 1, all at 7.30pm.

The play, written by Ruth and Augustus Goetz and directed by Hilary Lee-Corbin, is an adaptation of the novel Washington Square by Henry James, which was also adapted for a film starring Olivia de Havilland.

It is about a näive young woman, Catherine, who stands to inherit her father’s large fortune.

She falls in love when she meets Morris, who gives her the love and affection her father does not, and which she desperately needs.

Catherine constantly seeks her father’s approval but never comes up to his standards.

When she is swept off her feet by Morris, the story follows what happens next.
