A SMALL grant scheme known as the ‘money pot’ is available for community projects in East Hampshire.

Last time the fund was run it allocated £1,350 to nine organisations across the district. Projects that benefited included two youth clubs, a skate group, Scouts, and an art project.

East Hampshire Youth Council, which was originally established by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC), administers the scheme.

And the youth council is once again looking for small community projects that would benefit from some extra funding.

The projects must support young people in the district, and grants can be awarded for up to £250.

Lucy Bayliss, from Alton, and current chairman of the youth council, said: “The Money Pot scheme is an amazing opportunity and makes a real difference to the young people of East Hampshire by providing funding for a wide variety of projects designed to benefit them.

“Last year, we managed to help more than 800 young people through the allocation of these grants and we were thrilled to see the positive impact this money made.”

Julie Butler, the district council’s portfolio holder for customer service, said: “The Money Pot scheme has been running for more than five years and is a fantastic way for smaller projects to achieve their goals.

“Without schemes like this, there are many projects that may never come to fruition. Anyone who is interested shouldn’t miss this opportunity!”

The closing date for this round of Money Pot funding is Wednesday, January 25.
