FLEDGLING group the Woolmer Forest Timebank is gathering support for a runner from the area.

John Compton has a place in this year’s Virgin London Marathon, on April 22, and has agreed to run to back the Time 4 Hampshire project. Managed by the charity Timebanking UK, the scheme supports the development of a network of new timebanks throughout the county.

The money will be used to help the fledgling timebanks start their work - reducing social isolation, improving health and wellbeing and developing skills while strengthening and connecting communities one hour at a time.

Timebanking UK is a charity which establishes an individual or group’s time as its principal currency.

For example, someone could trade an hour’s worth of babysitting for pumpkin-carving lessons, or swap piano tuition for rabbit grooming.

Woolmer Forest Timebank is launching soon and will benefit from Mr Compton’s efforts.
