The new town signs, provided at the request of county councillor Adam Carew (who is also a town and district councillor), have been strategically placed on all entrances into the town.
They feature the correct name for the town “Whitehill and Bordon” - in that order because Bordon is part of Whitehill parish and has been since the parish’s creation 1929.
Also featured are: the town’s roe deer, indicating the town was carved out of the ancient royal hunting forest of Woolmer; the Hampshire rose emblem, and Whitehill and Bordon’s twinning with the French town Conde Sur Vire in Normandy.
“I am delighted with our new town signs,” Mr Carew said.
“This is all about place shaping and forging Whitehill and Bordon’s own strong sense of identity. We live in a very ancient and beautiful area surrounded by some rare countryside and historic landscapes. We have every right to be proud of where we live.
"Change is never easy but with major private and public-sector investment, a £1bn regeneration programme, state-of-the-art new schools, a leisure centre, a skills centre, a new town centre, shops and facilities and green spaces, I believe as we go forward we have every right to feel confident about our own sense of pride and identity.”
