THE railway line between Alton and Farnham was blocked by two trees at Holybourne and Bentley this morning, delaying the first rush-hour train to London.
Station staff at Alton confirmed the blockages were reported at around 5.30am on Thursday, but praised Network Rail for their fast response, clearing the line and resuming services around an hour later.
The 5.42am service out of Alton was delayed, eventually departing at 6.31am. London-bound services on the Alton line are currently delayed by around six minutes.
It comes amid widespread reports of trees blocking railway lines across the South Western Railway network, adding to disruption caused a track fault at Clapham Junction.
