Treloar’s student Chloe and her family raised more than £30,000 for charity by completing a 1,000-mile cycling challenge from Land's End to John O'Groats in 18 days.
Chloe, her dad Tom and her brothers Nicko, 19, and William, 15, set off on July 26 and overcame countless challenges to reach the finish line on August 12.
Supporting them throughout was Chloe's mum, Alex, who drove the support van, while the family’s Labrador, Koda, also joined the adventure.
They battled heatwaves, multiple punctures, eight broken spokes and crosswinds to demonstrate what could be achieved “when determination, resilience and family support come together”.
Chloe was born with cerebral palsy and was introduced to a specialised tricycle aged two as part of her physiotherapy. That sparked a lifelong passion for cycling.
She progressed through several adapted bicycles and now rides a Hase Pino tandem, enabling her to enjoy long-distance rides with her family and Newbury Velo cycling club.
The money will be split across two charities close to Chloe's heart - Treloar's and PALS West Berkshire - which have supported the family.
The family also hope their achievement will raise awareness of disability inclusion, adapted sport and the life-changing impact of accessible opportunities.
Treloar School, in partnership with Newbury Velo and British Cycling, will host a whole-school celebration of accessible cycling on September 23.
This event, called Treloar’s Limitless, is inspired by British Cycling’s inclusive cycling programme Limitless, which provides cycling opportunities for disabled people.
A Treloar’s spokesperson said: “We hope this will be an opportunity for every student to take part, creating a vibrant, whole-school celebration of cycling. It reflects our commitment to providing opportunities beyond the classroom, building confidence, wellbeing and a sense of adventure.
“Everyone at Treloar’s is incredibly proud of Chloe and her family for completing this inspiring challenge.”
