CHILDREN in year two at The Holme Primary School, in Headley, were treated to a day of cooking lessons when they were visited by the Kids Can Cook van.

The converted library van is the brainchild of Cerina Nichamin, who takes the message of healthy cooking and eating to children in their own schools, offering hands-on experience.

The year-two pupils prepared dishes like Indian fruit salad and green-pea soup. The ingredients were explained to the children, who were given time to smell, feel and taste foods they were less familiar with.

“Everyone had a super day and we can’t wait to welcome back Cerina and her cooking van,” said headteacher Ruth Worswick.
