THE Woolmer Forest Lions Club hosted a variety performance evening at Whitehill Village Hall, last Friday night, to raise money for the Amelia Fund.
The night, compered by Jo Smith, saw everything
from children's tap dancing to opera singing, from
the Ashe Puppets to the vicar of Blackmoor's band.
At the time of the Bordon Herald going to press, although funds for the night were yet to be formally counted, the pot had already passed the £3,000 mark.
"It went very well," Doreen Parfect, speaking on behalf of all the Woolmer Forest Lions, said. "There was something for everybody - a good mix of entertainment."
She thanked everyone who had assisted with the event and the fundraising effort so far.
"People have been most generous," she added.
Amelia Lancaster, three, lost her hand after contracting meningitis and septicaemia at 10 months.
After becoming aware of her story, the Woolmer Forest Lions Club decided to get in contact with the family to see what they could do to help.
They set in motion a fundraising effort to raise enough money to buy Amelia a functioning prosthetic hand.
With the cheapest model starting at £10,000, added to the costs of modifying the hand as Amelia grows, it is an expensive piece of equipment.
Amelia lives with her parents - Melinda and Simon - in Bordon. Mr Lancaster serves with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
