RAISE St Peter’s is expected to receive a financial boost on September 14 when it will be the main beneficiary of the Ropley Village Fete.

Standing at the heart of the village, the 800-year-old church went up in flames in June 2014, leaving nothing but a burnt out shell, standing alongside the remains of the 14th century timber-framed bell tower.

The Raise St Peter’s appeal is gaining monentum and work has now begun to build a vibrant new church, expected to cost in the region of £3million, with just £456,000 left to find.

Taking place from 2-5pm at the Recreation Ground – village hall if wet – the fete will offer traditional stalls and games, children’s races and refreshments, plus a chance to be part of Ropley history by signing a tile for the new church roof for a donation of £10.
