Paul Mann, distribution manager at South East Water, said: “After repairs to a burst on a 15-inch diameter water main along the A325, opposite the Country Market in Bordon on Wednesday, January 31, we received reports of cloudy water from customers in the Farnham area.
“We believe this was a result of tiny air bubbles entering the pipe during the repair so we flushed through the water pipes in the area to clear this air.
“We would like to reassure our customers that this water was not harmful although we appreciate this discolouration is offputting so we advised people to run the cold kitchen tap until it cleared. I would like to thank customers for their patience while this flushing process took place.”
Despite South East Water’s claim that the trouble was seen further north of the town, some Whitehill and Bordon residents reported issues with their water supply.
