SATURDAY'S storm caused power cuts and damage across the district as efforts to clear fallen trees from the festive period continued.

Deadwater Valley ranger Jamie Cummins said the weather had caused "carnage" on the nature reserve.

"We've been out clearing it up," he said. "There were six or seven trees all on top of each other in one area, which was strange."

The storm followed the Christmas Eve damage, some of which is yet to be fully cleared.
