ALRESFORD Young Farmers have raised £510 with their annual muck lug.

The first fundraising opportunity of the year, this traditional event saw a team of young farmers deliver muck to houses around Alresford and Old Alresford.

Manure was donated by a farmer and was delivered in bags and wheelbarrows, with a couple of larger loads. Many people pre-ordered manure but residents also bought on the day out the back of a tractor and trailer, which was supplied by CG Shaw.

Alresford Young Farmers have expressed thanks to all who bought manure and trust the gardens will be blossoming and fruitful.

The money raised will go toward the group’s charity of the year – The Murray Parish Trust. Set up by actors Sarah Parish and Jim Murray, after their daughter Ella-Jayne tragically passed away at eight months old following a traumatic premature birth at Southampton Hospital, the charity aims to raise money in her memory to help fund the expansion of the children’s unit at the hospital.
