YATELEY 1, ALDERSHOT & FARNHAM 2

ALDERSHOT & Farnham Ladies hold third place in Hampshire Division 1, level on points with Haslemere and with a game in hand, after a deserved win at local rivals Yateley.

It was a new experience for A&F to fall behind, Yateley scoring after 15 minutes. This spurred the visitors on and they played some great attacking hockey, constantly turning the ball over in Yateley’s half.

The pressure yielded results. A well-struck cross from Di Taylor across the D deflected off a defender into the goal for the equaliser.

A second goal soon followed as Emma Porter executed her celebrated ‘tomahawk’ shot and Aldershot led 2-1 at half-time.

The second half was goalless, despite more sustained pressure from A&F. Yateley managed just one entry into the D in the entire half, due to excellent defending from the Farnham team.

Millie Wakefield’s hard-working performance made her A&F’s Player of the Match.
