AMY Allcock took a bronze medal on the penultimate day of the European Championships in Berlin, running the third leg for Great Britain in the 4x400 metres relay.
The Aldershot Farnham & District athlete stayed in contention after the performances of Zoey Clark (Thames Valley Harriers) and Anyika Onuora (Liverpool Harriers), thus giving Eilidh Doyle (Pitreavie) the chance of honours on the anchor.
Poland won the event from France, while GB came home a few yards ahead of a Belgian quartet that set a national record.
Allcock was also a member of the side that claimed bronze at the World Indoors in March. She is a former England Athletics under-23 champion over 200 metres and twice won the English Schools intermediate 300 metres title.
She came third in the British Championships last month, earning selection for the individual 400 metres where she reached the semi-finals last week.
Steph Twell, also of AFD, finished 11th in the women’s 5000 metres. Sifan Hassan (Netherlands) won the race in a champion record time of 14mins 46.12secs.
Last week, AFD’s Andy Vernon came fifth in the 10,000 metres, with clubmate Chris Thompson finishing 11th.
