ALTON Cricket Club have signed 26-year old Victorian Premier League opening batsman Daniel Hutton as their overseas player for the 2016 ECB Southern Premier League season.

He replaces New Zealander Dewayne Bowden who missed all of last season after tearing an Achilles tendon in a cycling accident.

Hutton is an established first grade all-rounder playing for Melbourne University in the powerful Victoria sub-district competition, having scored over 2,000 runs and taken 80 wickets bowling off-spin.

It will be his second visit to the UK. He played in Yorkshire for Wetherby League club Scarcroft in 2011.

Scott Myers will continue to lead Alton next season, with younger brother Jack as vice-captain.
