Farnham’s women’s softball team made it two wins from two with a 21-run win at Farncombe Fernettes.

Farnham batted first and opened up with Anna White and Natalie Upton. Upton scored a four off the first ball of the match, and White hit a four in the third over. Second pair Sarah Gudgin and Maddie Armitage solidly added to the score, with Gudgin claiming the highest score of the day. Rebecca Wakely and Kelly Davis were the next pair and quickly added to the boundary count. The last pair for Farnham were Fiona Atherton and Amelie Le Jehan, who took Farnham’s final total to 287.

After a brief break, it was Farnham’s turn to field. Wicketkeeper Atherton once again shone behind the stumps. Tidy fielding slowed Farncombe’s run rate, while wickets fell to Davis and Upton in the eighth and tenth overs. The innings ended with the Fernettes on a total of 266.

Farnham’s next match is at home against Grayshott Strikers on Sunday, June 2. Training is held at the Castle grounds on Wednesdays at 6.30pm.

Farnham’s third team returned to winning ways in Division Seven of the I’Anson Cricket League with a resounding 111-run victory against Tilford’s third team.

Henry Beattie (67), Richard Phillips (49) and Alexander Kardamilakis (26) were in the runs as Farnham scored 217 for seven off their allotted 40 overs.

Philip Knight (29) and Matt Swarbrick (25) were the only Tilford batters to pass 20 as the visitors were bowled out for 106.
