ELSTEAD Cricket Club will be hosting some Serbian youth cricketers over the weekend of July 5-8.

Five juniors and their coach will be visiting for a cricketing holiday organised by Elstead player Peter Cheeseman.

Peter, who has played I’Anson cricket for both Thursley and Elstead, spent 10 years in Serbia, teaching English. He became involved in Serbian cricket after spotting some youngsters playing in a Belgrade park and, at one point. was coach of the national team.

Cricket thrives in the country now and Serbia is affiliated to the ICC.

The Serbian youngsters will visit the Oval for a T20 game, play matches with the Elstead juniors, watch an I’Anson fixture and finally play a T20 game at Elstead before departing on the Sunday afternoon.
