SIX of the 15 Farnham Runners who braved the stormy weather to compete in the Gosport Half Marathon were rewarded with personal best times.
Storm Angus had caused the nearby Brighton 10km to be cancelled, but had passed over by the start of the Gosport race, although there was still a strong headwind for almost half of the two-lap route.
With the flat course attracting runners from far and wide, Rob Gilchrist posted a fine 1hr 25mins 43secs to finish 100th out of over 1,500 finishers.
Neil Ambrose (1-31-04), sportingly paced by Ian Carley (1-31-05), took two and a half minutes off his previous best. Jason East (1-32-19) snatched the final A team score from Alistair Hardaway (PB 1-32-34).
Hardaway, Mikey Taylor (1-33-05), Chris Cramp (1-40-36) and Tim Cummins (1-46-59 made up a complete B team.
The Farnham teams have another nine races of the series of 12 to show they can stay in Division One of the Hampshire Road Race League.
For the Farnham ladies, Eloise Stradling continues to get stronger each race and she also took one and a half minutes from her PB with 1-34-30, finishing 15th in the senior race.
A final sprint from Lindsay Bamford (1-44-13) earned her fourth in her category, finishing just ahead of Tara Hunt (PB 1-44-31). This A team clinched a useful fifth slot in Division One to lie seventh on aggregate.
Jane Georghiou (1-46-27) gained an age category win, while Tina Harrison (1-52-24), newcomer Kate Townsend (1-53-19) and Mary D Fitzgerald (1-56-20) all recorded personal bests. The B team were sixth in B Division One (13th on aggregate).
