A Farnham Runners member has won a silver team medal in the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships.

Jane Georghiou represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the championships in Torun, Poland, where she won a silver team medal for her age group in the cross-country.

Jane said: “I was with the same two ladies five years ago in Malaga at the World Masters Outdoor Championships – where we won team gold in the cross-country, with a German team in silver.

“With a very speedy German team this time, the positions were reversed. There were also very strong runners from the USA and Republic of Ireland, and I came eighth out of ten, but I was first in the GB team.

“The course was reminiscent of the Bourne Woods but with steeper, shorter hills!”

Jane opted to run in the 10km two days later, and in the half marathon three days after that, rather than the shorter events inside the stadium.

She was fifth F70 in the 10km in a time of time 51.34, and sixth F70 in the half marathon in 1:55.34.

“I couldn’t have done this without my husband David, who encouraged and supported me,” added Jane.
