FARNHAM Runners have recorded 13 personal best times over the last three Hampshire Road Race League races: Gosport Half Marathon, Hayling 10 and the Victory 5.
A contingent of 12 took part in the windy Hayling event. Ian Carley was easily the quickest, finishing 28th and sixth M45 in 1hr 55secs. Neil Ambrose (PB 1-08-37, Alistair Hardaway (1-09-12) and Tim Cummins (1-09-33) completed the men’s A team, while Chris Cramp (1-14-15), Keith Marshall (1-16-43), Steve Murphy (1-17-20) and a surprised Richard Sheppard helped the B team to their best result of the season.
Eloise Stradling?clocked a PB 1-11-16 and Lindsay Bamford (1-18-48) and newcomer Kate Townsend (PB 1-23-20) helped the ladies to seventh in the top division. Tina Harrison gave valuable support with 1-33-29.
In the 70th anniversary Victory Five, James Clarke sliced 34 seconds off his personal best with 28mins 35secs for 47th place out of almost 700 entrants. Ian Carley was hot on his heels in 48th (3rd M45) with a PB 28-39. Rob Gilchrist posted 29-28 (7th M40) for the third A team place, while Mike Anderson won his new M60 category in 30-46.
Mike Walberton, who headed the B quartet, was close to his best with fifth in the M50s, recording 31-12). Mark Maxwell (31-34), Neil Ambrose (31-43) and Alistair Hardaway (32-50) all recorded PB times.
Tim Cummins (33-07), Chris Cramp (35-30), Keith Marshall (PB 36-21) and Steve Payne (43-39) scored for the C team.
Eloise Stradling was again Farnham’s leading lady with 34-23, a personal best by two minutes. Jane Georghiou clinched second in her category with 37-27 and Tina Harrison (PB 41-15) snatched the final A score from Mary Denise Fitzgerald (PB 41-21). Helen Bracey clocked 47-06 in her first five-mile race.
Farnham Runners featured in the 2016-17 Alice Holt 5km parkruns awards. Tim Cummins won the male points table for the fourth year in a row and Terry Copeland was second.
Special volunteer certificates were awarded to Keith Marshall, Colin Addison, Linda Tyler and Carolyn Wickham.
