ALDERSHOT Town will celebrate International Women’s Day 2017 with a full programme of events and half-price admission for all female supporters to the home match against Lincoln City on Saturday, March 4.
The day will also feature a girls’ five-a-side tournament, with the final played at half-time during the Lincoln game, as well as an all-girls ‘Junior Takeover of the Club’ and a special guest from the Women’s Super League.
All female fans will be admitted to the game for half-price: £9.50 (seating) and £8.50 (terrace) for adults, £7.50 and £6.50 for concessions, and £3.50 and £2.50 for girls aged 11 to 16.
Sixteen teams, with players aged from 7 to 11, will compete in the tournament. All players will then attend the 3pm kick-off, with some forming a guard of honour for the Shots and others acting as ball-girls during the match.
The Junior Takeover will offer vital match-day roles to girls and young women under 18, including chairwoman, press officer, scoreboard operator, PA announcer and groundswoman.
Applications – specifying any preferred role and with any supporting information – should be emailed to [email protected] with Junior Takeover as the subject.
On International Women’s Day itself, Wednesday, March 8, a special event at the EBB Stadium will be co-ordinated by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Aldershot Town FC and the Community Matters Partnership Project.
Picking up the international theme of ‘Be Bold For Change’, the event will encourage female Year 10 students from schools across Aldershot, Fleet and Farnborough to forge a more inclusive, gender-equal world.
Featuring workshops covering topics including employability, personal brand, confidence, speed networking, apprenticeships and fitness and nutrition, the event will open with a keynote speech by a female sports personality.
