Alton won 2-1 at home to Redhill in the Combined Counties Premier Division South.
The hosts fell behind in the third minute when Harry Pointing headed home from a corner.
The Brewers got back on level terms on eight minutes when Matt Benham’s cross-shot beat Redhill keeper Theo Bromley.
Alton went ahead on 17 minutes when Hadif Darwysh’s cross was cleared to Zak Nash, who swivelled on the loose ball and lashed his finish past Bromley.
Darwysh and Jamal Branker then combined on the break to feed Nash, whose cross-shot was saved by Bromley. Branker also went close with a long-range effort after Bromley cleared the ball straight to him.
The Brewers were the better side for much of the second half, and nearly scored a third when Bromley’s clearance cannoned off Nash and went just wide.
Alton joint player-manager Jamie Phillips said: “We fully deserved to win.
“The only negatives were conceding a sloppy goal from a corner at the start of the game, and not scoring a third goal ourselves to put the game to bed.
“We have played well in 20-minute patches in games and asked the boys to deliver a 90-minute performance, and we were excellent for 85 minutes.
“We need to back this up.”
